Our industry in an ever changing world

We see the world changing right before our eyes - U.S. Manufacturing and Outsourcing, Going Oversees; A Recession with Recovery Still Impending; Historical Political Changes; The World Population Growing by Leaps and Bounds, causing the demand for "Green Energy" - We realize, collectively as an industry, that we have weathered the storms and are stronger for it. Service in the real estate industry calls for professionalism, consistency, reliability, customer awareness and satisfaction, pro-action and not reaction. We at Pump & Motor Corp. are proud to be amongst the companies that service this industry and we look forward to meeting our industry challenges in the future. Pump & Motor has been servicing this industry for over 30 years with 50 years of combined expertise at the executive levels. We service an array of customers from management companies, to hospitals, state facilities, schools, colleges and universities. We are a one-stop-shop for all of your equipment relating to pumps, motors and controls. As the experts in this industry, we truly understand the need for energy savings, therefore, we have a few tips you can do to save your building energy, time and money: Have booster systems designed to your buildings specifications by installing a system of 2 or 3 pumps or add an additional pump to go along with your preexisting pump to create a lead lag system that will prevent the use of unnecessary energy. Install programmable control panels on your existing dual pumps which will allow them to be used only when needed. Install Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) to reduce energy costs and prolong the life of equipment. These drives adjust motor speed to meet load requirements. Rotating equipment accounts for 50% of the total electrical energy generated in the U.S. Fans, blowers, compressors, and pumps consume 65% of this total. Variable Speed Drive technology allows your building to gain in both productivity improvements and reduced energy consumption. Many people do not realize the importance of steam traps whose life only ranges from 3-5 years. If your steam traps are 3 years old it may require maintenance, if it is 5 or more years old it usually needs to be replaced. Remember to turn your heating system off when changing your traps or the steam will travel up the return lines and destroy the newly installed ones. Correctly maintained steam traps become significant energy conservers. Last but not least, maintenance programs need to be put in place for your building's equipment which will ensure longer life and greater savings. Pump & Motor provides free estimates to check your systems and provide detailed corrective action reports for new and preexisting equipment. Call us today or submit a request for an estimate or repair from our new customer friendly website www.pumpandmotor.com. Regardless of how the world changes, Pump & Motor's mission statement remains constant "Treat each opportunity with enthusiasm." We are grateful for the chance to be of service to our clients. We wish you a prosperous New Year. Zaneta Williams is the director of operations for Pump & Motor Corp., Westbury, N.Y.
