What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my ongoing 10+ year relationship with Urban Health Plan, which includes fit out design for their 52,000 s/f, five-story 1095 Southern Blvd. facility that broke ground this past spring. It is gratifying to help one of New York’s largest FQHCs expand healthcare access throughout the Bronx.

What is one lesson that you had to learn the hard way?

I have come to realize how important it is to be true to oneself. Rather than wasting energy attempting to fit in, we must recognize that it is the distinctiveness in each of us that brings the highest value to the work we are doing. Always be your authentic self.

Tell us about a mentor or role model that has influenced your career choices?

I am inspired by the legacy of service on both sides of my family, which includes educators and other professionals like my grandmother who was a partner in an architectural firm in Guyana. They each set a high standard for achievement and used their expertise to support everyone around them.
