Ones to Watch Fall 2022: Harris Brown, Lantern Real Estate

Harris Brown
Senior Associate
Lantern Real Estate

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? I believe it is very important to keep up with my professional contacts. Earlier this year, I learned that a contact took over as chief lending officer at a bank Lantern had never done business with. When working on a new financing, I reached out to him. This lead to Lantern closing our first-ever transaction with the bank, and concurrently bringing a large uniquely structured post-construction loan for our client’s project in Larchmont, N.Y.

Tell us about a mentor or role model that has influenced your career choices? My father changed careers paths earlier on in his career. I really admired that and his experience gave me the confidence to switch career paths early in mine.

What 3 skills do you consider the most important to be successful in your industry? Detailed oriented, fast learner, being personable.

What is one lesson that you had to learn the hard way? Generally speaking, the lesson I learned early on in my career with Lantern was that everything needs to be done the right way. This is exhibited in both attention to all details, as small as they may be, and also making sure all work product is up to our high standards, especially anything that is sent to a client.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? Watching/going to sporting events, specifically the Giants, Nets and Yankees in the playoffs. Going snowboarding. Going to the beach. Hanging out with friends.
