Richard Maltz, Maltz Auctions

Name: Richard Maltz

Title: CEO

Company Name: Maltz Auctions

List 2-3 real estate associations or organizations that you are currently a member of:

National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees; National Auctioneers Association; New York State Association of Realtors, Inc.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?

I’m most proud that at the onset of the pandemic, without missing a beat, my team and I pivoted to an online proprietary platform and have continued to conduct successful auctions.

How do you contribute to your community or your profession?

Prior to the pandemic we would donate our auction services to select New York-based charitable organizations that wished to hold live auctions. We will begin offering those services again.

Favorite quote:

“You only have one reputation. It takes a lifetime to build and one poor decision to destroy.”

Who was/is your mentor and how did s/he influence/help you in your career?

I’m fortunate to share that my father, David, was my mentor. I was raised at his knee, fell in love with cars we auctioned as a teen, and rose through the ranks at Maltz Auctions, learning every role that was necessary within the company, and then further expanded our real estate endeavors. I can’t imagine a better career for myself.

Top three things on your bucket list:

For someone who has never taken more than one week off at a time, the idea of having the luxury of going away for three consecutive weeks—traveling throughout Italy, from Lake Como to Sicily for an extended period—would be amazing.

Chartering a sailboat to ultimately chart my own course and cruise around the Caribbean with my family would be a dream come true.

Exercise mixed with adventure would be right up my alley. I’ve read that swimming with manta rays in the Maldives is extremely cool.
