New York, NY MJ Orbach Associate’s exclusive leasing agent for 27 West 24th St., The Kaufman Organization (Kaufman), a full-service commercial real estate firm, has secured a 10-year lease totaling 11,306 s/f for customizable interior design service – Homepolish – at the building (27W24). The startup has shaken up the interior design industry by providing easy access to top interior designers at an affordable price point. Founded in 2012, Homepolish connects design-savvy customers with interior designers after completing an online complimentary consultation. Following the review of the customer’s design aesthetic and request, one of the service’s 500+ designers compiles an overview of the design process including notes, recommendations and estimate of design hours. Clients can choose from a single day session starting at $349 for three hours with a Homepolish consultant or a by-the-hour design package starting at $130 per hour, with a commitment of over 10 hours of work. The startup has designed offices for notable companies including Venmo, Classpass, and Gilt as well as spaces for fashion influencers including Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine and W Magazine's Christina Caldwell. Relocating from 48 W. 25th St., and in order to accommodate the company’s growth, Homepolish will utilize its new full-floor at 27W24 as a high-end showroom and executive office space with new glass fronted offices, conference rooms, private call rooms and large bullpen area. The classic loft office space features hardwood floors, high ceilings and modern amenities. “It is a true testament to the appeal of the building that a service that designs office spaces – and homes – for other companies has chosen to lease at 27W24,” said Ian Norris, associate at Kaufman. “27W24, which has completed a multi-million dollar capital improvement program, is the perfect space for innovative startups such as Homepolish to continue to thrive in.” Recent capital improvements included:
  • A renovated facade and lobby with interactive wall display
  • Three-passenger elevators with upgraded cab designs
  • State-of-the-art security surveillance system
  • Security access control system with proximity card reader
  • Building central plant for HVAC
Kaufman’s Aron Orbach and Ian Norris represented the landlord, West 24-27 Realty, LLC c/o MJ Orbach Associates in the transaction; Elie Reiss of Skylight Leasing represented the tenant. Asking rent was in the high-$60’s per s/f range.
