Greater Binghamton provides all the amenities you need to expand or relocate your business in the year ahead. Anchored by a diverse make-up of high-tech companies and premier education institutions, Greater Binghamton is the perfect size for opportunity.
Long been a hub of innovation and hard work, Greater Binghamton sits along the southern tier of Upstate New York. With the sixth-largest economy in Upstate, some of our largest private employers include companies like Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, IBM, Raymond Corp. and Universal Instruments Corp. Our businesses generate nearly $7 billion in economic activity each year and Greater Binghamton is one of the state's safest and most creative communities.
Looking for access to state-of-the art research and talent? Greater Binghamton is home to Binghamton University, listed as one of the most respected public universities and a Center of Excellence in SUNY system. BU's Small Scale Systems Integration and Packaging Center is doing cutting-edge research in the fields of energy-smart electronic systems, advanced microelectronics manufacturing, nanofabrication and solar power. These efforts will be enhanced on campus by the construction of a $70 million energy research and development facility currently underway. In 2016, BU will break ground on a $60 million School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences campus in Johnson City, adjacent to UHS Wilson Medical Center. The school will be located on the original site of the Endicott Johnson Shoe Company will be a dynamic visual demonstration of how BU is driving the new economy in Greater Binghamton.
We are also poised to become a hub of start-up ventures through the START-UP NY program. Eligible start-up companies can locate on the campuses of Binghamton University, SUNY Broome Community College or in strategically designated sites and take advantage of little or no taxes for up to ten years. Our start-up efforts will culminate with the construction of the Southern Tier High Technology Incubator, a $19 million, $35,000 s/f space in downtown Binghamton. This project has garnered support at the federal and state levels and includes local partners such as Binghamton University, SUNY Broome, the City of Binghamton and the Broome County Industrial Development Agency. Opportunities abound for the new entrepreneur.
Looking for the right location for your expansion? I encourage you to contact the IDA about a number of strategic sites, including the Charles Street Business Park or the Broome Corporate Park.
The Charles St. Business Park in Binghamton is a 32-acre urban industrial park in proximity to downtown Binghamton. A former industrial site, this area has been transformed into a state-of-the-art technology business park, including a 40,000 s/f facility, which is headquarters for Emerson Network Power. This site is part of a Federal HUBZone, creating additional incentives for businesses looking to locate.
The Broome Corporate Park is a mixed-use business park owned-and operated by the IDA. The Park is immediately adjacent to I-81 at Exit 1, which provides excellent highway access. The Park is 10 miles from the Greater Binghamton Airport and has options to buy or lease available land.
In a fast-paced and ever-changing economy, Greater Binghamton provides everything you need for that perfect work-life balance. We are located along the major interstates, including I-81, I-88, and I-86. This makes it easy to move your product or get away with your family to New York City, Boston, Philadelphia or perhaps Toronto or Montreal, Canada.
We have a diverse work-force including high-tech engineers, service professionals, access to cutting-edge research labs and a talented stock of students with knowledge on the latest technologies and innovations.
Greater Binghamton commutes average less than twenty minutes, which means you can put in a full day at work and still carve out quality time with your family.
Looking for things to do? Greater Binghamton is part of Brew Central NY, highlighting some of the area's finest craft breweries and wineries. We are also home to the Binghamton Senators AHL hockey team, the Binghamton Mets Double A baseball team and host the Dick's Open, part of the Champions Tour.
