Long Island Commercial Real Estate Expo: Building a stronger, smarter and safer future

Anyone connected to Long Island's commercial real estate industry will want to mark Tuesday, March 12, 2013 on their calendar. That's the date of the 2nd Annual Long Island Commercial Real Estate Expo (www.licree.com) when executives and entrepreneurs representing all facets of Long Island's commercial real estate industry will gather at the Hilton Long Island, 598 Broad Hollow Rd. In addition to free continuing education classes, this event features some timely seminars and an Executive Business Lunch with panel discussion. It will start with a keynote address delivered by Kenneth Adams, Empire State Development (ESD) president and CEO and commissioner of the New York State Department of Economic Development. Moderated by David Winzelberg, real estate reporter for Long Island Business News, the panelists are: * Michael Maturo, president and CFO of RXR Realty; * Donald Monti, CEO of Renaissance Downtowns; * David Pennetta, owner of Oxford & Simpson Realty; * Russell Matthews, senior vice president of The Albanese Organization; and * Matthew Whalen, senior vice president of Avalon Bay Communities. Their seminar is aptly named, "Building a Stronger, Smarter and Safer Future- Ground Level Perspectives from Industry Leaders." Registration is required for this program. Other notable features of this event are the Kickoff Breakfast beginning with event opening remarks delivered by Frank Petrone, Huntington town supervisor and including a presentation by Andrew Lieb, MPH, managing attorney of Lieb at Law, P.C. The program is entitled "Storm Front." Building owners and real estate professionals need to understand risk of loss when a purchaser and seller are in contract of sale when the storm strikes. Storm Front is a seminar that is essential for building owners and real estate professionals who help companies and developers navigate commercial property in the Northeast. The Long Island Commercial Real Estate Expo is amply sponsored by leading Long Island companies including: Lead Sponsor: RXR Realty Gold Sponsors: EAM Land Services and Stalco Construction Silver Sponsors: KIMCO Realty, The Signature Group, DJJ Technologies, Suffolk Federal Credit Union, and PNI Capital Partners Bronze Sponsors: Avalon Bay Communities, Margolin, Winer & Evans, LLP, Certilman Balin, Nassau Educators Federal Credit Union, Applied Computer Technologies, MGM Islandwide Realty, Long Island Development Corp. and many more. The event is also supported by most of the real estate industry's professional associations. According to producer, Mark Neuwirt, "The combination of Hurricane Sandy and a mild thaw in lending and the economy in general is being reflected in sales of sponsorships, exhibit space and admission. Sandy has created a lot of conversation as well as opportunity to improve our island. This event promises to be the forum for discussion of issues that affect this industry in particular and the business climate in general." The Expo is presented by The New York Real Estate Journal and NYREJ Tech. Sponsors and Exhibitors are currently being sought, but Neuwirt advises exhibitors to reserve space while it is still available.
