Lilker promotes Ales, Cabo-Freixedas and Akselrod

New York, NY Lilker Associates Consulting Engineers, a building systems engineering, energy, lighting and technology firm, has promoted three associates to its senior leadership team in the New York City headquarters.

Armis Ales was named associate principal, director—Electrical Department. Since joining Lilker in 2006, Ales has provided direction, mentorship and electrical systems code expertise. As Department head, he will oversee electrical engineering design and project management for upgrades, additions and new construction for the firm’s educational, commercial, institutional and transportation projects. 

Ales’ notable projects include the new JetBlue Terminal 6 at JFK Airport, the award-winning Beekman Hotel & Condominium in lower Manhattan, numerous SCA public schools, the rejuvenation of the Park Central Hotel, adaptive reuse of the landmarked BankNote Building and multiple electrical infrastructure upgrades.

Santiago Cabo-Freixedas, PE, LEED BD+C, was elevated to associate principal, director— Mechanical Department. With over 15 years at Lilker, Cabo-Freixedas' expertise includes mechanical infrastructure systems design for both new construction and renovations for diverse building types, including public agencies, corporate, commercial, institutional and transportation facilities.

Cabo-Freixedas has been the lead mechanical engineer on many significant projects including the award-winning Beekman Hotel & Condominium in lower Manhattan, the new JetBlue Terminal 6 at JFK Airport, numerous SCA public schools, the contemporary residential tower at 100 Vandam St., the expansion and repositioning of 520 West 20th St. as a Class A office building, and the infrastructure modernization at 7 Hanover Sq.

Alex Akselrod was named associate principal. An expert in the design of mechanical systems, Akselrod also provides project management for corporate facilities including new construction, fit-outs, renovations, additions, adaptive reuse and conversions. His portfolio ranges from smaller workplaces to large-scale headquarters, retail establishments, restaurants and multi-family residential design. 

Akselrod's noteworthy projects for Lilker have included L’Oréal’s USA Headquarters at Hudson Yards, Group M’s relocation to 3 World Trade Center, the complete overhaul of District Council 37’s 125 Barclay St. headquarters and WPP’s Chicago Co-Location.
