According to Diana Bosnjak, CPM, president of the Greater New York Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management, David Kuperberg, CPM, CEO of Cooper Square Realty, has been named the organization's Certified Property Manager of the Year.
Kuperberg, a respected leader and visionary in property management for more than two decades, founded Cooper Square Realty in 1987 and quickly spearheaded its growth into the largest residential property management firm in New York City. A driving force in professionalizing the property management industry, Kuperberg has worked to improve industry standards, professionalism, technology and the variety of services offered to residential properties and homeowners. He is a vocal advocate of training and certification.
Kuperberg is also the founder and CEO of FS Energy, the energy services affiliate of Cooper Square Realty. FS Energy helps building owners effectively and economically reduce energy consumption, cut operating costs and provide a positive environmental impact for both residents and the general public. He has implemented several groundbreaking energy initiatives in residential property management including the issuance of energy report cards to Cooper Square Realty's managed properties to monitor and rank energy efficiency through a comprehensive BERG (Building Energy Rating Guide) score.
A frequent guest speaker at industry events, Kuperberg has also appeared on NBC, Fox, WPIX and Court TV, and written articles for Real Estate Weekly, The Cooperator, Habitat Magazine and The Mann Report. He has been quoted extensively in The New York Times, Crain's New York Business, and other publications.
Kuperberg serves on the Real Estate Board of New York's Residential Management Council, is a Life Governor and past Chair of the Board of Governors of the Registered Apartment Managers, and was formerly on the executive committee and past president of the Greater New York chapter IREM. He chaired the State Licensing of Property Managers Subcommittee of the NAHB and authored a study of state licensing practices throughout the U.S. Along with his credential as a licensed real estate broker in New York State, he is a member of the Building Owners' and Managers' Association of Greater New York and vice president of Community Access.
