My greatest professional accomplishment in 2010 was being appointed president of CoreNet Global for the Long Island Chapter. I will be serving a two year term. What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2010? In 2010, I would have to say Teachers Federal Credit Union. TFCU awarded JRS the contract to design their new corporate headquarters in Hauppauge. TFCU plans on occupying over half of the building's 200,000 s/f. How do you contribute to your company and / or the industry? As mentioned, I belong to a number of real estate organizations and very active in the Long Island business community. I believe my contributions have played an integral part of my firm's growth as it is continually ranks among the top full-service architecture/design firms across the country. What advice would you give to women just starting out in commercial real estate? The commercial real estate industry is a very tough and competitive industry-especially for a woman. I would recommend joining professional real estate organizations and getting involved with your local community. Start developing your relationships within the organizations-get involved. Plant enough seeds and eventually they will grow...don't give up-I promise you it gets easier... How do you manage the work/life balance? It's much easier now that my son is grown. I find that my work life and personal life overlap which works for me. I am very fortunate that I enjoy what I do and the people I surround myself with-it's all good! Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career? There isn't one particular person or event that influenced my career. I think that my career and life is a journey. I continue to learn and grow from each experience I have and relationship I make. What impact has social networking had on your business? Just recently getting used to using it. Terrific networking tool.
