Jones of Eastern Consolidated discusses best advice received

Name: Marion Jones Title: Director Company/Firm: Eastern Consolidated Years with company/firm: 3 years Years in field: 10 Years in real estate industry: 10 Telephone: 646-658-7305 Email: [email protected] URL: http://www.easternconsolidated.com Real Estate Associations/Affiliations: REBNY, ULI What is your biggest leadership challenge, other than the "glass ceiling"? Dealing appropriately with negativity requires real leadership. No matter what move you make, someone is likely to be unhappy. While our world is highly competitive, there is room for us all to shine. If you can stay positive and work above the finger-pointing that is inevitable in transactional real estate, you will soon be recognized as someone capable of leadership on a deal, on a team, and in life. What do you consider to be the most successful way to increase referrals? It's simple: ask. When someone compliments my abilities, I thank them and I ask. It works. What is the BEST advice you have ever received? An early mentor of mine from the arts world often quote John Irving: "get obsessed and stay obsessed." To me, the obsession is for constant growth; being obsessed is to be passionate. If you lose the passion, you will stagnate, and you will likely never persuade anyone to do a deal. What is your favorite tip for balanced living? Get your sweat on! Vigorous exercise yields mental strength. I love spinning, pilates, and outdoor running.
