Not as effectively as we would like. We are embarking on a study to determine how best to employ social media. What is your biggest leadership challenge, other than the "glass ceiling"? Managing expectations. Mine. And the brokers. What is the most daring thing you've done for your career? How did it turn out for you? I quit and went to graduate school. I came out with an award-winning book, so I'd say it went pretty well. And I'm here now. So that too. Which project, deal or transaction was the "game changer" in the advancement of your career? I quit architecture and started my own marketing agency, which I ran for over 12 years. Then I turned it over to my designers, moved to New York, and went in house in commercial real estate. What do you consider to be the most successful way to increase referrals? Do good work. What is the BEST advice you have ever received? Do good work. What is your favorite tip for balanced living? Red wine. Tennis. Skiing the back bowls in my home state of Colorado. Where would you like to be in 10 years? Dividing my time between my grown children's homes (London, Seattle, Phoenix)—of course they don't know that yet—and then at a writing desk overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
