Manhattan, NY Jack Resnick & Sons completed construction on its newly redesigned lobby at Gracie Mews, its 35-story residential tower on the Upper East Side.

Resnick partnered with Specter DeSouza Architects and general contractor R.P. Brennan to reimagine the lobby area at the 310-unit apartment building, located at 401 East 80th St.

The new lobby introduces custom wood wall panels fabricated and installed by top millworking firm Bauerschmidt & Sons. It also provides a backdrop to the updated port cochère and its green wall.

The lobby also features two Italian travertine marble lounge areas, appointed with blue sofas by Holly Hunt, a new concierge desk, and an expanded resident mailroom and package room.

“Our collaboration with Specter DeSouza Architects and R.P. Brennan has resulted in a beautiful and elegant space that is both modern and timeless,” said Jonathan Resnick, president of Jack Resnick & Sons. “As longtime owners in the neighborhood, we are excited and proud that our vision for a reimagined Gracie Mews has become a reality.”

“We at Specter DeSouza Architects, appreciated this opportunity to work with Jack Resnick & Sons in creating a new and exciting lobby for Gracie Mews,” said Ronald DeSouza, principal at Specter DeSouza Architects. “For over 20 years, we have been fortunate to work with Resnick on the design of numerous projects including the Gracie Mews fitness center and resident lounge.”

Gracie Mews is comprised of spacious studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments that all offer best in class finishes and appliances, over-sized closet space, high-performance windows, and first class service. To top it off, most apartments offer sweeping views from private balconies.

Built by Jack Resnick & Sons in 1980 and designed by architect Philip Birnbaum, Gracie Mews offers a variety of amenities such as a rooftop fitness center with pool and sun decks, a children’s playroom and resident lounge, on-site parking garage, and a 24-hour concierge.

The building also includes a privately-owned public space called Steel Park, with an original sculpture and public gathering space designed by renowned artist Tony Rosenthal. In 2016, the public plaza was recognized as the “POPS-Star” award winner by nonprofit organization The Friends of the Upper East Side Historic District.
