Ismael Leyva and Zaha Hadid win Project of the Year at SARA awards; For work at 520 West 28th Street; Developed by Related

Manhattan, NY Ismael Leyva Architects and Zaha Hadid Architects won Project of the Year on June 20th at the 2017 Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) New York Design Awards for their work on 520 West 28th St. Ismael Leyva Architects and Zaha Hadid Architects collaborated on this project.

Located on the High Line in West Chelsea, this exceptional building sets a new standard for residential architecture, with curves, curated amenities, and a chevron façade that embraces the property’s interlaced levels. Related is the project developer. 

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from SARA,” said Ismael Leyva. “This was a true collaboration with Zaha Hadid and her highly skilled team and we look forward to working together on future projects.”

At 520 West 28th, Ismael Leyva Architects and Pritzker Prize-winning Zaha Hadid Architects, have created a seamless and optimistic vision of the future, using custom interior details, integration of indoor and outdoor space, and technological innovation.

The design is a bold departure from traditional residential buildings, forging a unique language and imagery. 

Roughly two dozen architecture firms were honored at the award show for a wide range of projects throughout the world. SARA aims to provide a professional society for all architects regardless of their role in the building and design industry. SARA hosts an annual award show and several national conferences throughout the year.
