The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) is celebrating its 75th anniversary! National and local initiatives taken throughout the year highlight our organization's rich past and historic achievements. They also showcase IREM's ever-growing role as a global leader in educating real estate managers, certifying their competence, enforcing ethical business practices, and serving as a strong voice on industry-related issues.
Commenting on the significance of the anniversary milestone, IREM president Regina Mullins, CPM said, "We believe that well-managed properties improve the quality of life for the people who live, work and shop in them and, at the same time, build asset value for owners and investors. Since our founding more than seven decades ago, we are proud to have led the effort to transform real estate management into a highly valued profession that effectively serves the interests of all of its constituencies."
According to Mullins, IREM is committed to maximizing the significance and impact of the anniversary observance for IREM members, whom she credits as being "the driving force behind the organization's longevity and success." IREM Headquarters - joined by its 81 U.S. chapters and eight international chapters - planned various programs to celebrate the professional development, camaraderie and other benefits that define the IREM membership experience.
IREM National designated June 1-7, 2008 as "IREM Week." The Greater New York chapter of IREM celebrated in style by rubbing elbows with Donald Trump, Madonna, Brad Pitt and the Incredible Hulk, to drop a few well-know names. On June 12, IREM hosted a networking cocktail party and membership drive at the world famous Madam Taussaud's Wax Museum on 42nd St. in the heart of Manhattan. The plan was simple - any IREM member could attend, as long as they brought a non-member working in the field of property or asset management as their guest. In addition, Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared June 12 as  Institute of Real Estate Management Day and New York State Governor David Patterson granted our chapter an official citation in recognition of the 75th Annversary of IREM. As you can see from the photographs taken at the event, a fabulous time was had by all who attended.

IREM's year-long celebration culminates with a Diamond Anniversary Gala at the 2008 Fall Meetings on October 14-16 at Chicago's Conrad Hilton Hotel. Tags:
