Hoffmann Architects selected for four on-call government contracts

Hoffmann Architects, an architecture and engineering firm specializing in the rehabilitation of building exteriors, has been selected within the past month for on-call contracts with the New York State University Construction Fund, the New York State Office of General Services, the State of Connecticut Department of Public Works, and the City University of New York. Competition for the term agreements was considerable, with as many as 64 firms submitting qualifications for one contract. The New York State University Construction Fund (SUCF) chose Hoffmann Architects to provide design and construction administration services for roofing and exterior envelope repairs and alterations in the southern region of New York State. Projects under the three-year term agreement may include replacement or repair of roofs, facades, windows, doors, parapets, soffits, skylights, and other exterior envelope elements. The southern region includes nine State University of New York campuses. The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) awarded Hoffmann Architects an on-call contract to provide design services involving the building envelopes of various state-owned properties. Under the five-year term agreement, Hoffmann Architects will be assigned exterior envelope projects by OGS on an as-needed basis. Forensic investigations, materials testing, reports, construction documents, bidding assistance, and construction administration for roofs, facades, structural elements, windows, and plazas are among the services to be rendered under the agreement. The State of Connecticut Department of Public Works (DPW) designated Hoffmann Architects as on-call roofing consultant. For over 30 years, Hoffmann Architects has worked with the DPW, under both term agreements and individual project contracts. With a diverse building portfolio that includes a wide variety of roof systems, the DPW specifically sought architecture and engineering firms with technical knowledge of various low- and steep-slope roof assemblies, as well as experience in waterproofing design and installation. The City University of New York (CUNY) also selected Hoffmann Architects for on-call building envelope design services. As the need arises, CUNY will assign projects to chosen firms in each category of work. For the building envelope, projects include roof replacements, masonry restoration, structural repairs, window restoration and replacement, and facade safety investigations and repairs in compliance with New York City Local Law 11 of 1998. Each of these four on-call assignments represents myriad potential building envelope investigation and rehabilitation projects over the coming years. As these New York and Connecticut government agencies identify building envelope needs at their various facilities, Hoffmann Architects will be prepared to commit the necessary time and resources to the fulfillment of project objectives.
