Helmsley Spear appointed exclusive agent for 597 Fifth Ave.

Helmsley Spear, LLC has been appointed the exclusive agent for 597 Fifth Ave., The Scribner Building, according to John Farrell, vice president and director of commercial brokerage of Helmsley Spear, LLC. "The Scribner Building remains an iconic part of one of New York City's busiest shopping districts. We are proud to be the exclusive agent for such a prestigious commercial property and signature building that hosts some of the City's unique retail, office and showroom businesses," said Farrell. The Scribner Building is a boutique office building with a total of 14,146 s/f available at this time. The building is situated on Fifth Ave. and 48th St. It is surrounded by other recognizable great landmarks including, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral and Saks Fifth Avenue. "The picturesque facade overlooks a passing parade of pedestrians and accentuates some of the notable business identities being featured on famed Fifth Avenue. The building also has a historic sentiment for some that hold an avid interest in Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Thomas Wolfe," said Vladimir Spector, senior associate at Helmsley Spear. This historic landmark property was built in the early 1900s, and was designed by Ernest Flagg, a prominent designer of Manhattan architecture. In 1982, it was designated a city landmark with the interior shortly following the same status in 1989. Its structure and design reflects a Beaux Arts style with many details that include three large bays that depict four medallions with busts of printers: Benjamin Franklin, William Caxton, Johann Gutenberg, and Aldus Manutius. The magnificent 12th and 13th floor duplex penthouse is available, and combines for 8,121 s/f. This duplex penthouse, with elegant opulence and a dramatic rotunda reception area, boasts high ceilings, a large skylight, and a gracious, internal staircase connecting the two floors. The panoramic 13th floor and roof deck coupled with an outdoor terrace offers exceptional views of Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue and the Grand Central area. In addition, a refined pre-built 6,025 s/f is now available on the 9th floor, with both the 4th and 5th floors being made available in early 2010, both of which also measure 6,025 s/f each. This prominent icon is steps away from the subway, and each floor is fit for full floor identity. The 9th floor features new pre-built interiors, eight offices and large open area workstations, a large center open area, new restrooms and a pantry with new appliances.
