GKA designs 4,300 s/f single family townhouse

A new six-story, single-family townhouse, designed by Gene Kaufman Architect (GKA) and echoing the historic town homes of New York, has been introduced to the market. The residence, located at 208 East 52nd St., offers discerning buyers the opportunity to tailor the interior of the home to their specification, creating a bespoke living experience. "Some of New York's most notable townhouses have been celebrated for the unparalleled luxury that has been created within narrow dimensions," said Gene Kaufman, founder of GKA. "This six-story, 4,300 s/f townhouse is 10 ft. wide, offering a complex but spectacular opportunity." The home offers completely customizable interior spaces with a double height entry, elevator and roof top terrace as well as the state-of the art systems necessary to create a modern oasis in a classic New York setting. "The residence's stone façade reflects the feeling of an urban palazzo - home as castle. The façade is an outward expression - a face - creating a relationship to the street and the surroundings. Unlike contemporary glass condos or commercial buildings which reveal everything inside, this is designed to conceal the interior life while maintaining a sense of openness and light. Being one of the narrowest townhomes available, we chose to punctuate the exterior with a single grand, galleon window on each level to allow natural light to fill the home while maintaining privacy and intimacy."
