Future of Long Island CRE Summit - by Rick Kaplan

The New York Real Estate Journal, in conjunction with Ron Koenigsberg of American Investment Properties who has envision a panel discussion to discuss issues on Long Island with commercial real estate professionals who work and live on Long Island.  Recently hosted a morning of panel discussions designed to highlight the area’s challenges in retail, industrial and affordable housing as well as new technology to adapt to changes in the industry.  

The first panel was moderated by Eric Alexander of Vision Long Island, and included Ron Koenigsberg president of American Investment Properties, who has been representing buyers and sellers in the Long Island market for many years with a strong team of brokers; Michael Sahn, managing member of Sahn Ward Coschignano PLLC, specializing in real estate law and transactions, corporate, municipal and environmental law; and Anthony Manetta of HB Solutions LLC completed the panel. Members discussed what is happening in Long Island changes, new development and adapting to the needs of the market.

The second panel, moderated by Lori Anne De lulio Casdia of PTP Consultants, included Danny Shachar of Compstak Exchange, Francesca Loftus of hOM and Ronnie Mandler of BEP Best Energy Power. The panel discussion was on new technology that can improve brokers research, amenities that can be offered and solar power benefits.

The discussions were informative and eye opening for how to understand why adapting to the changes in the region are important. Overall discussion is positive with new development and redevelopment in Long Island going forward.
