Hauppauge, NY According to Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, Brady Foster joined the firm’s Commercial Lending and Banking Group as an associate, and Alison LaPointe joined the firm’s Land Use and Zoning Group as an associate.
Prior to joining Certilman Balin, Foster was an associate at Stagg Wabnik Law Group in Garden City. He earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 2021 and his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Political Science and History, from the State University of New York at Cortland in 2014. He is admitted to practice in the state of New York.
He made the Dean’s List, was inducted into the Political Science Honor Society and won the “Best Paper Award” from the Political Science Department.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Foster served in the United States Army as a paratrooper, stationed at Fort Benning, GA; Fort Bragg, N.C.; and overseas at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. He served as a team leader in charge of several soldiers, and he participated in collaborative exercises with military forces from nations including Spain, France, Canada and the United Kingdom.
While pursuing his law degree, he was a student attorney at the Securities Arbitration Clinic at St. John’s University School of Law, and also interned at a law firm in Connecticut and in the law department at Norwalk City Hall.
Prior, LaPointe served as the assistant village attorney for the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson for eight years where she managed the Department of Planning and Building and the Fire Marshal’s Office. She counseled and advised the Village of Port Jefferson including the Mayor’s Office, Board of Trustees, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals in land use and zoning matters, community redevelopment, and compliance with village, state and federal regulations. She earned her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law in 2007, is admitted to practice in the State of New York, and is a member of the New York State and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
In her tenure with the Village, LaPointe guided development through the planning, zoning and permit process including several large apartment and mixed-use complexes. She drafted extensive code revisions and worked towards bringing the Village Code into compliance with the Villages updated Comprehensive Plan, focusing on the revitalization of uptown Port Jefferson. To further enhance her understanding of the construction process, LaPointe completed the state training to become a Code Enforcement Official.
LaPointe was a solo practitioner from 2011-2014. Prior to entering her own practice, she was secretary to the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Brookhaven.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the Nelson Rockefeller School of Political Science at the State University of New York at Albany in 2001. While an undergraduate, she was an intern and Legislative Correspondent for Congressman Rick Lazio. She then became the Assistant to the Superintendent at the New York State Insurance Department in Albany before returning home to become the Special Assistant to the Mayor of the Village of Port Jefferson.
For the New York State Planning Federation, Lapointe served as president, and first vice president, second vice president and Long Island director. She dedicated 12 years of her efforts to this statewide not-for-profit organization that promotes sound planning, land use and zoning practice in New York State and presently serves on the organizations Executive Committee as immediate past president.
She has held leadership positions in the Village of Port Jefferson, including Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, member of the Architectural Review Committee, and as a Board member of Theatre Three.
