Asprea forms new firm: Karen Asprea Studio

Karen Asprea, KAS

New York, NY Karen Asprea, who as principal of Whitehall Interiors directed the design and creation of interiors for many of New York’s condominium and apartment towers, has formed Karen Asprea Studio (KAS). The new company offers a specialized consulting practice focused on project management, design oversight and integration of the design and construction process for residential, retail and commercial projects. KAS also offers interior design services for private residences.

“I had the opportunity to participate many times in the successful realization of design – where synthesis of great ideas, materials, scheduling, workmanship, attention to detail, budgeting and creativity come together to create the most outstanding construction projects,” Asprea said. “I am excited to establish this consultancy and put my experience and expertise to work on projects that range in size from individual homes up to the largest new office, retail or residential installation. I want to offer a tailored experience to clients who value the design process and help them reap the benefits of a well-executed project.”

Through her interior design practice, she helps homeowners create their perfect environment.

She recently completed a beautiful apartment renovation in Brooklyn for Phoebe Robinson from 2 Dope Queens, a popular podcast and HBO special.

Prior to forming KAS, Asprea was a principal of interior design firm Whitehall Interiors, the company she helped establish as an affiliate of Hill West Architects. In that capacity, Asprea was immersed in all facets of the design process, which allowed her to develop relationships with the industry’s most sought-after professionals and material resources. In her five years in the firm’s leadership, she developed and executed interior design plans for more than four million square feet of new residential development, including 91 Leonard in Tribeca, North Park in East Harlem, One Flatbush in Brooklyn and Tower 28 in Long Island City.

Asprea’s extensive work on a diverse range of residential property has made her a trusted advisor to many of the City’s top real estate owners and asset managers. Peter Davis, managing director of Waterside Plaza said, “We have worked with Karen on apartment and corridor renovations. Karen brought to the table a valuable combination of high-end design aesthetic with a nuts and bolts knowledge of construction and project management. This rare set of skills was invaluable and helped ensure the successful completion of a very complicated project.”

“There are many moving pieces to be orchestrated to come together and create a successful project, and I am energized by the goal of delivering success to every client,” Asprea said.
