Architectural firm Alan Gaynor + Company is rebranding as Boddewyn Gaynor Architects, D.P.C. to reflect the role of president and partner Michele Boddewyn, AIA, as well as the firm's status as a Women's Business Enterprise (WBE), according to founding principal Alan Gaynor, AIA and Boddewyn.
"Michele has been with the firm for 34 years, including 21 as a partner, and her efforts have been critical to our long-term success," said Gaynor. "The new name, accordingly, underscores our shared leadership of the firm. Furthermore, we have been a WBE since 2010.
"Indeed, either Michele or I - or both of us - is involved in every project," he said.
Boddewyn said that "Alan and I are especially pleased to announce our new name in conjunction with the firm's 40th anniversary. We believe 2014 will be a wonderful year for Boddewyn Gaynor Architects, as we continue to apply our vast experience and the technical and creative expertise of our seasoned staff to resolving client needs. And I am delighted that Alan, who has been a mentor and a partner to me for so many years, continues to be fully active in our firm - and will remain so."
Indeed, nothing besides the name will change, stresses Gaynor, who emphasizes: "Since I opened this firm in 1974, we will - as always - continue to do great work: balancing functionality and design as creative problem solvers, designing with the needs of end users in mind, staying attentive to detail, and delivering projects on time and within budget."
Both Boddewyn and Gaynor are registered architects - she in New York and New Jersey, and he in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Both partners hold B.A. degrees in Architecture from Pratt Institute. Boddewyn is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Boddewyn Gaynor Architects, D.P.C. offers full-service architecture, interior design and planning services to a wide range of corporate, not-for-profit, retail and medical clients. The firm's work ranges from providing highly individual designs for image-conscious clients to creating unique solutions to repurpose older structures for new uses. Boddewyn Gaynor Architects has considerable experience with improvements to landmark buildings and with the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. In 2010, the firm was designated a Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council.
