New York, NY As part of an ongoing focus on supporting the built environment by encouraging and fostering the next generation of engineers, each year since 2011, the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) has provided a high school student participating in the ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York with a $3,000 legacy scholarship to be used towards pursuing a degree in engineering.
This year, the scholarship was awarded to Leann Marie Senat, a senior at Townsend Harris High School in Flushing, who is currently studying engineering at the Grove School of Engineering, City College of New York.
“As I’ve learned from attending the ACE Mentor program for two years,” said Senat in her application essay. “Engineering is about fixing things and making sure ideas can become reality.”
Since its inception, the ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York has awarded $2 million in scholarships to more than 900 program graduates.
