What recent accomplishment or initiative are you most proud of, and what impact did it have on your firm, clients, or community?

I am honored to serve as design manager of the $2.9 billion Bronx Borough Based Jail team. It is one of the largest projects happening in NYC now, taking justice architecture in a progressive direction. I have organized and grown the biggest team of design professionals I have ever worked with and serve in an uncommonly public facing position. I have repeatedly presented the project to the local community and responded to the public’s questions, input and concerns. This process reminds me of the civic responsibilities and the great impact that architects’ work has on neighborhoods and cities.

What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate?

Always be aware of the state of the work, from big picture to the finest detail. Listen to everyone around you, but formulate your own point of view. Share your views with your colleagues and accept their feedback whether you agree or not. Remember the project’s core objectives and uphold them throughout the process. Never compromise on ethical challenges.

What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader?

I reset my priorities several times each day to avoid being stuck in a rut and focus on main tasks.

What book, podcast, or app has most influenced your approach to leadership?

Patrick Lencioni’s The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, an account of how human traits impact a team.

Who has had the greatest impact on your career or leadership journey?

Family, friends and co-workers at all levels have inspired and guided me on my professional journey.
