2025 Ones To Watch - Industry Leaders: Gary Kao, Dealpath

Gary Kao
Managing Director & Head of New York
Dealpath

“Gary is a collaborative and innovative leader in our industry. He plays a pivotal role in formulating and executing Dealpath’s business strategy and was instrumental in the genesis, development and launch of its newest solution, Dealpath Connect. He has a proven ability to bring ideas and people together to solve challenges and achieve a common end for the betterment of the industry.” - Jason Lo, Managing Director, Global Strategic Accounts, Dealpath.

Recent goal and impact:

I played a critical role in launching Dealpath Connect, our newest product offering that connects investment sales brokers with prospective buyers in a single platform. With our launch partners JLL and LaSalle Investment Management, we brought a unique solution to market, allowing global real estate dealmakers to bolster existing relationships and execute deals with speed and efficiency. More recently, we announced a strategic partnership with CBRE, making Dealpath Connect the only investment platform directly integrating listings from 2 of the largest real estate brokerage firms globally.

Best books, podcasts, or apps for aspiring leaders:

I would recommend The Alliance: Managing Talent in the Networked Age by Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn.

Turning problems into opportunities:

Real estate has long lacked a solution to help buyers identify and track deals offered by brokers, leading to missed opportunities and inefficiency for all. This was the catalyst for Dealpath Connect, which we’ve spent 10 years developing. We’ve helped our sell-side partners realize more than an 80% increase in visibility of their opportunities with top buyers and more than a 30% increase in Confidentiality Agreements signed. Institutional investment managers are seeing over 200% increase in relevant deals screened, and a 30% decrease in errors in underwriting, diligence and deal execution.
