What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year?

Rise in interest rates and continued low office use have had a strong impact. I hear the worst of inflation is behind us, which should give the Fed a reason to pause interest rate hikes.

How has your career path changed in 2023?

It has been a challenging environment to get deals done; a market which requires creativity and thinking out of the box; no longer business as usual; deals are harder to get done and has required me to find alternative ways to help clients reach their goals. Many deals have turned at the 11th hour and it takes excellent technical and negotiating skills and business savvy to get deals done. I am always looking for a way to yes.

What emerging trends will drive investment and development in 2024? AI and digital economy will drive high demand for data centers; wellness real estate will soar; strength in retail will continue to grow; hospitality driven and focused amenities will be the focus for office.
