What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? Higher interest rates have been the market trend over the past 18 months that have impacted our business the most. The higher rates have led to a decrease in volume. In 2024, we anticipate working more for buyers who have been waiting for commercial real estate opportunities and need environmental consulting on those deals. 

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2023? After purchasing a building to operate Merritt Environmental offices, we embarked on the Leadership Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) journey to implement many energy saving strategies along with other sustainable initiative before-during- and after renovations. In September 2023, we were awarded a GOLD designation.
