What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? The most important factors in choosing a firm are to confirm you like the firm’s culture and structure, and that it is a place where you will be able to grow and achieve your personal goals.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Jacquelyn Mascetti deserves to be honored as a “Woman in Commercial Real Estate” because all her time and professional energy is spent assisting commercial property taxpayers become more profitable by reducing their tax burden. In addition, in her “spare” time, she serves as Co-Chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Tax Certiorari and Condemnation Law Committee where she interacts with municipal representatives and the Court to streamline the commercial tax assessment processes.” - Jay Herman, Partner at Herman Katz Cangemi Wilkes & Clyne, LLP.

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? I have been a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association’s tax certiorari & condemnation committee for a number of years, and most recently, as a co-chair. During my time with the committee, I have assisted in creating a commercial real estate-focused, biennial, joint program with the Long Island Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. The program, which spotlights commercial real estate related topics, has been in a variety of different formats and locations, and each time, the presentations were very well received. We are in the beginning stages of planning for an upcoming program this year, and I look forward to continuing the program in the future.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? All parents who are working and juggling raising a family. The ability to walk in the office and accomplish what needs to be done, while simultaneously scheduling doctor’s appointments, ordering school supplies, arranging for transportation to and from activities, among a thousand other things, is a quality in every parent that inspires me.
