2023 Women in Construction: Ella Paolillo, Spector Companies

Ella Paolillo
Interior Designer
Spector Companies

In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? Starting my career at Spector! I’ve grown immensely within the company as an interior designer and have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including assisting top financial firms with their relocation and re-imagining their NYC offices to conceptualizing a community temple to better reflect their beliefs. Having worked with some amazing people in the field of architecture and interior design, it has been incredibly rewarding. I look forward to continuing to do so.

How can AEC companies recruit more women? They can start by being more inclusive in general. All it takes is a company’s culture to be supportive and comfortable for all employees. If you create a welcoming work environment, women are incredibly intuitive and will likely identify that positive change! Additionally, showing your support for female professionals can increase the number of women in AEC. This could include attending (or hosting) networking events specifically designed to target women in the industry. It could also mean engaging with and supporting female-led initiatives within the AEC field. By doing this, you’re sending a message that your company truly values the contributions of women in the industry.
