2023 Women in Construction: Celia Dick, AMA Group

Celia Dick
Principal
AMA Group

What is your favorite building in New York? For me, I go back and forth between the Guggenheim and the Zaha Hadid buildings, but I ultimately appreciate the latter more. The Architect, Zaha, was an outlier in the field for many reasons. Individually, she stood out as an outlier in her field. She also used a mixture of different types of materials that strayed from the standard. I really like the idea of building something that can integrate into different landscapes.

What was a pivotal point in your career? For me, a pivotal point in my career was becoming a principal at AMA Group. I am starting to see my long-term goals come into play and I have the opportunity to challenge myself more. It is an incredible time where I have the opportunity to act on things I said I wanted to do years ago. In this position, I have had the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and take on tasks such as business development. I am seeing myself go where I want to go, and that is so fulfilling to me.
