2023 Ones to Watch Rising Stars: Nicole Youngs, Rochester’s Cornerstone Group

Nicole Youngs
Assistant Controller
Rochester’s Cornerstone Group

Number of years at firm: 3.5

One thing on my bucket list: The thrill-seeking experience of skydiving!

When I am not working, I am: Spending time with my two loyal dogs. Additionally, this spring I’ve had the privilege of participating in the Buffalo Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Citizens Academy Program with other prominent business and community leaders. This program allows citizens to gain insight into what the local FBI field offices and law enforcement do for the surrounding communities.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? The support of my family and my determination has allowed me to earn my Master’s degree and become a first-generation college graduate.

What makes this nominee a RISING STAR?

“In less than four years, Nicole has become a key financial person for Rochester’s Cornerstone Group. As Assistant Controller, she is involved in the construction and permanent financing of all development projects and is responsible for draw funding and accounting. On the property management side, she is heavily involved in all aspects of (affordable housing) property management: Treasury, budgeting, payables, financial reporting, and investor relations. Our company has grown tremendously in the past few years and Nicole is one of the main reasons we’ve been able to handle such growth with a very limited staff. She works tremendously hard and has mentored several new employees to help them grow personally and professionally. She truly is a rising star for Rochester’s Cornerstone Group and for our industry.” - Marie Mahany, Controller/Vice President of Accounting at Rochester’s Cornerstone Group
