2022 Women in Professional Services: Michelle Galindez, Syska Hennessy Group

Michelle Galindez
Associate Partner, Director of Marketing & Comm.
Syska Hennessy Group

In the last 12 months, what ONE award were you most proud to receive? I received an award from the Women’s Builders Council for my work and contributions to my firm and team. The award is given to women in the industry who display commitment to increasing diversity and the role of women in the construction and professional services industries. Definitely an honor to be recognized alongside other women in the AEC industry.

In the last 12 months how have you helped your industry grow through professional creativity, innovation and leadership? I truly believe that as leaders we must inspire those that work for us and with us. This year I have implemented a professional development program for my team (comprised of marketing professionals across the country) at Syska Hennessy. Every other Monday we hold seminars and brainstorming classes on different subjects meant to engage our team, teach them something new and exchange ideas and feedback. To help spark innovation it helps bringing people of different backgrounds together to reimagine new ways of thinking differently.

What advice would you give the next generation of women in your industry? Believe in yourself and your potential. Never be afraid to ask questions. The feedback and insight help bring about new perspectives and allows for further ideation. Next – set the vision! Write out your goals and aspirations. Go as far as a making a decision journal and let it guide you- you can memorialize your rational and reasons “why”. And finally, Be You! (she is probably pretty incredible!)
