What is your management style?

I always strive to set the example for the people I manage. I expect a lot from them and I want them to expect a lot from me. The most important thing is communication. I believe, in order for my voice to be heard, I have to hear everyone else’s voice and listen to their concerns. Sponsoring and elevating attorneys is also something I work hard at.

Describe what you would consider to be ONE of your top career highlights:

I am proud of the expansion of my practice and generation of new clients in new industries over the past couple of years. I have worked with new clients in completely restructuring their real estate and business, creating a new and unique business to address the difficulty in obtaining financing for leasehold improvements and helping create a financing and implementation platform for bio manufacturing. Having new clients from different industries seek my counsel and advice is extremely gratifying.

What award were you most proud to receive?

Being named to “Notable Women in Law 2022” and Notable Diverse Leaders in Law 2022 by Crain’s New York Business made me extremely proud. It’s the fourth time I’ve been included in the “Notable Women in Law” selection, but my enthusiasm for this particular award has never diminished. In fact, the perspective I’ve gained since entering the profession has made me appreciate it even more. Early in my career, “Notable Women” and “Notable Diverse Leaders” were few and far between. Now, as I see my peers on this list, it’s clear that I’m counted among elite lawyers regardless of gender. I’m extremely proud to be in their company and equally proud of the role I’ve played in blazing the trail for some of the younger honorees.

What advice would you give the next generation of leaders in your industry?

Commit yourself. Work hard. Surround yourself with good people. I point to dedication and hard work as the drivers of my own professional accomplishments. Be accountable to your own success without ego or entitlement. Create your own opportunities. Unless you believe in yourself and give 110%, you’re going to fall short.
