07-15-2014 - Consolo of Douglas Elliman to speak at "Attracting Global Retailers" panel

International retail broker and consultant Faith Hope Consolo will discuss the art and science of "Attracting Global Retailers" at the International Council of Shopping Centers' latest SCTLive panel discussion, to be held at the association's headquarters from 7:30 to 10:15 a.m. on July 15th. Joining Consolo at the event will be: moderator Edmund Mander, editor-in-chief of Shopping Centers Today, ICSC's monthly magazine; James Bieri, president and CEO of Stokas Bieri; and Velda Turan, VP of leasing for Westfield LLC. The group will discuss which international brands and retailers are entering the United States and from what nations, and how landlords can best serve their needs, at a session that will be presented exclusively at ICSC's offices in Midtown Manhattan. "I'm honored and delighted to join a panel of professionals I've known for years and respect greatly," said Consolo, chairman of Douglas Elliman's Retail Group. "It will be a pleasure to discuss the opportunities and challenges of globalization in this innovative new format!" Known as the "Queen of Retail," Consolo has worked and consulted with retailers and landlords around the globe. She is a co-founder of the SBS, a network of luxury international retail brokers with representatives in North America, Europe and Asia. Closer to home, as the sole retail consultant to the Economic Development Corporation, she helped revitalize areas such as Times Square and Penn Station. She is recognized as a key player in Fifth Ave.'s return as the "Luxury Walk" and Madison Ave.'s achieving its glitter as the "Golden Mile." Her client list is a veritable "Who's Who" of international branding from Armani to Zara, including Cartier, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Louboutin, Who.A.U, MonnaLisa and Orogold. In her prior post as vicechairman of Garrick-Aug Associates, she opened the firm's Paris office, a pioneering move among U.S. brokerage firms in the 1980s. "Those seeds planted more than two decades ago have now achieved full bloom," Consolo said. "Today, I can work with clients in the Middle East, Europe, California and Hong Kong all in the same day. I'm excited to share my experiences about finding, educating and assisting these retailers - and about coping with the resulting sleep deprivation!" SCTLive is a series of intimate, interactive events hosted by the editors of Shopping Centers Today magazine in cities around the world.
