Message from the NYSCAR president: Upcoming dates

The NYSCAR Annual Meeting will be held on October 2, 2018 at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino, 10:00 a.m. (in conjunction with the NYSAR Fall Business meetings). I hope to see you there. 

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of some upcoming education, deadlines, National Association of Realtor (NAR) dues information and conference dates:

October 17, 2018

“Analysis and Marketing of Commercial Real Estate” Syracuse Association of Realtors, 5958 E. Taft Rd., No. Syracuse, NY 13212

Instructors: James Walker, CCIM and Robert Giniecki, CCI

Course objectives: Familiarize the practitioner in commercial real estate & how market influences relate to property; understanding the make-up of the real estate market; comparison of the commercial property types; how to price for the market; review investor and user objectives, development of marketing data for property; date checklist; sources of information. National Association of Realtors 2019 Dues

Dues for the National Association of Realtors are $150 per member beginning in 2019 (a $30 increase) $17 of the increase is for Realtor party advocacy programming. The remaining $14 will fund programs such as the new Commitment to Excellence professionalism initiative, the popular forms and transaction management benefit and upkeep of the association’s buildings.

Have you completed your Code of Ethics Training?

As required by the National Association of Realtors, all Realtor members must complete 2.5 hours of approved Code of Ethics training every two years. The current cycle is January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018. Failure to complete the NAR-required Code of Ethics training shall be considered a violation of a membership duty for which Realtor membership shall be suspended until such time as the required training is completed.

Realtor Emeritus Status

A Realtor Member who has held membership in the National Association as a Realtor, Realtor-associate, or both, for a cumulative period of 40 years is eligible for Realtor Emeritus status. 

In addition to proof that the member has held membership for at least 40 years, the applicant must also have proof of one year service at the local, state or national level. (Starting in 2020, applications must have proof of service at the National level. Realtor Emeritus members do not pay state or national dues. If you believe you qualify for Realtor Emeritus status, please email Ali Mann, EO, NYSAR – amann@nysar.com by September 17.

Whether it’s your computer, mobile device or some other tech problem, the experts will provide prompt, courteous service.
