Rochester, NY According to co-developers Cornerstone Group, Ltd. and Pathstone Development Corp., the newly constructed Long Pond Senior Housing project has been certified as a LEED for Homes Gold property. This designation confirms that the building is a green housing option for area senior citizens. The 53,500 s/f, 54-unit project was completed in December 2015.

LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is the world’s benchmarking tool for newly constructed buildings. It ensures that the design, construction, operations, and maintenance for the building align with the industry’s most current green practices. Obtaining LEED certification requires third-party verification and rating throughout the entire cycle of the design and construction process. Residents at Long Pond Senior Housing will benefit greatly from the sustainable site development practices, energy efficient fixtures and appliances, water savings, safe materials and finishes, and highly-tested indoor air quality.

SWBR Architects and LECESSE Construction worked closely with the project’s green raters from Sustainable Comfort in order to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) strict guidelines. The team has worked together on many previous projects but is especially proud of the work done to achieve LEED Gold for this building. The USGBC’s benchmarking standards have become more difficult to reach each time an update is made to their criteria.

In the time since its December completion, Cornerstone Property Managers have been busy leasing 1 and 2-bedroom units to new residents. There are still openings for the 1-bedroom units for residents participating in the enriched housing program provided by Family Service Communities. Through this program, residents are provided three meals each day, laundry and housekeeping services, social activities and case management.

The property, located at 1 GBC Parkway, next to Greece Baptist Church, is off of Long Pond Rd., just north of the intersection of Rte. 104/West Ridge Rd. Income restrictions do apply in order for potential applicants to become eligible to live at Long Pond Senior Housing.
