CREW New York, one of the largest organizations for women in commercial real estate in New York City, will host a number of professional development and networking opportunities for members and the New York real estate community this May and into the summer months. CREW New York will host "Changes in New York's Hospitality Industry: Selling a Lifestyle," 6 to 8 p.m. May 28, at Steelcase. Panelists include Michael Overington, vice chairman and partner of Ian Schrager Company; Mark Lanspa, executive vice president at Hospitality Finance Group; and Steven Kamali, founder of Steven Kamali Hospitality. Tickets are $40 for members and $60 for non-members. CREW New York's Leading Ladies in Real Estate Breakfast Series, sponsored by Akerman LLP, is set to take this June, July and August. The monthly breakfast events offer an intimate environment of about 40 to 50 professionals, who come together to learn from leading women in the commercial real estate field. Speakers include Jodi Pulice, CEO and founder of JRT Realty Group, Inc., on June 9; Merle Gross-Ginsburg, the Association of Real Estate Women's founder and first president, on July 14; and Susan Swanezy, a partner at Hodes Weill & Associates, on August 12. School supplies and monetary donations will be collected at these events as part of CREW New York's Charitable Fund program to benefit the Volunteers of America's Operation Backpackinitiative. Visit www.crewny.org for event registration information and to learn how to become a member.
CREW New York this month also kicks off a new set of offerings for its more than 350 members in the metro New York area. CREW's first set of dine-around events will be available to about a dozen members per reservation with a prix-fixe menu and the opportunity to secure stronger ties with fellow CREW New York members. CREW will also begin offering intimate cocktail events this month, in addition to its regular monthly CREW coffee events. "We know that networking is of utmost importance for CREW New York members looking to grow professionally and to grow their businesses," said Kenne Shepherd, CREW Champion and principal of Kenne Shepherd Interior Design Architecture. "This new sets of offerings, which we're calling CREW Connections, provides a forum to help CREW New York members connect and build stronger ties with one another, to reinforce the sense of community and camaraderie that our organization so passionately believes in."
In addition to these new networking opportunities for members, younger CREW New York members will have the option of joining CREW New York's Young Leaders Group, which will launch this month for members 35-years-old and younger, with Baikowitz as a co-chair. CREW New York will continue to hold events that benefit professionals in the commercial real estate space this season with a hospitality panel this May and monthly breakfast events this summer.
