What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2017?
My second daughter was born last February and provides a lens to reflect on my construction milestones in 2017. The Greenwich Lane, a new residential development within the Greenwich Village Historic District, received its final TCO in June, more than a decade after it began. The Chamberlain, a new luxury residential building on the Upper West Side, topped out in November. I started as its project architect right after the birth of my first daughter, who’s now three years old. One Willoughby Square, a new downtown Brooklyn mixed-use tower (and the future home of FXCollaborative) is expected to finish construction in 2021. My baby will be headed to kindergarten by then. It is fascinating, and important, to reflect on the long, complex process to bring a building from concept to occupancy.
