What was your most notable project, deal, transaction or professional achievement in 2018?
CA Rich recently installed a newly-designed combined soil vapor barrier and passive sub-slab depressurization system uniquely retrofitted within an occupied affordable housing apartment building in the Bronx. The system was needed to “clear the air” inside the building attributable to the historical use of the property. Challenging construction complications included an insect infestation that temporarily shut down the job, a damaging fire, and age-related building settlement. Needless to say, these problems were overcome, but to do so expeditiously required juggling work items and change orders simultaneously to contain scope creep–along with a series of client-approvable budget adjustments. Problems were solved, and subsequent air sampling confirmed system effectiveness above and beyond NYS Health Department guidelines.
