VHB hires Severance as managing director

White Plains, NY According to VHB, Robert Severance, PE, CPESC, has been hired as managing director. Severance joins the firm from WSP USA in Briarcliff Manor, where he recently served as associate and deputy department manager of the New York civil infrastructure group. In this role, Severance will be responsible for the day-to-day management of operations along with directing business development efforts to cultivate new client relationships and expand the firm’s presence. Severance has a strong background in the execution of complex civil engineering projects and navigating local and state regulatory processes, having worked on roadway, grading, site, utility, and sewer, water, and stormwater conveyance and treatment projects. Over the past two decades he has worked with many agencies, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New York State Department of Transportation, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and New York City Department of Design and Construction, contributing to the planning and design of significant city and state infrastructure improvement initiatives. At the local level he has provided engineering support to numerous municipalities throughout the tri-state area, serving as Planning and Zoning Board Engineer as well as leading many projects through design and construction. Local clients have included the Villages of Croton-Harmon, Sleepy Hollow, and Rye, and the Croton-Harmon School District, to name a few. “Respected by clients and colleagues alike for his wide range of engineering knowledge and experience, Bob is recognized for understanding the complexities and importance of building strong client relationships,” stated Northeast Regional Manager, Theresa Elkowitz. “We are fortunate to have Bob leading our White Plains integrated services team.” Bob is a Professional Engineer in New York, a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, and has completed the OSHA 10-Hour Certification in Construction Safety. He studied Electrical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology and Engineering Science at Dutchess Community College.
