USGBC-LI Gala to recognize North Shore-LIJ's Dowling

The Long Island chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council will host its third-annual Building Green Gala on April 28, at the Long Island Marriott and Conference Center. At this event the USGBC-LI will honor Michael Dowling, president and chief executive officer at North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, for his visionary leadership in implementing healthier, more environmentally responsible building standards and practices at his organization's facilities across Long Island and New York City. Leslie Segrete, star designer and host of The Money Pit radio program and soon to appear on $100 Makeover on the A&E television network, will be the MC for the event. "Our gala is a celebration of green building on Long Island. There is no better individual to recognize than Michael Dowling of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System. Dowling has spearheaded programs to have 22 North Shore-LIJ projects registered for LEED certification. This is proof of his commitment and leadership in the green building sector," said Art Desin, USGBC-LI gala committee chair. "The USGBC-LI Annual Gala is an opportunity for us to bring to people's attention our green building mission, and those individuals that share in our mission for the benefit of all Long Islanders. We are dedicated to working to enhance our quality of life by improving the structures we build, and the environment in which we all live, work and play. We salute Dowling's decision to allow the USGBC's LEED Rating System guide the design and construction of all work throughout the Health System," said Vince Capogna, LEED AP ID+C and USGBC-LI chapter chairman. Gala sponsorships and raffle donation opportunities are available. The deadline for sponsorships is Friday, April 16.
