Urbanstrong to present "Greening the Concrete Jungle: An Intro to Green Roofs" on January 14

Brooklyn, NY Urbanstrong, a group of green building technology specialists, is offering a lecture on "Greening the Concrete Jungle: An Intro to Green Roofs" on Monday, January 14, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at AgTech-X Co-Lab @ Agritecture in Brooklyn. Alan Cyril Burchell, founder of Urbanstrong, explains that green roofs are “a popular European design trend that has been attracting increasing interest in the New York metro area and other major urban centers. Former misapprehensions, often surrounding affordability, are fading as the industry gains knowledge.”

He said, for example, that green roofs are heavily subsidized in NYC and even mandated in several cities across the nation and in Canada. The presentation, designed for all from builders, developers and/or owners (all from single-family homeowners to commercial and residential real estate firms) to architects, landscape contractors and/or designers and other green building professionals, will explore such topics as: System types; elements & technology; design considerations; benefits; installation & maintenance; government Iincentives; and solar integration.

Attendees will gain understanding of the potential that green roofs can play in transforming our cities, and be offered a list of suggestions on affordable ways to proceed. The presentation is eligible for a 1-hour continuing education credit with AIA, LA CES, BOMI, IDCEC, and GBCI (LEED). For tickets (just $29) go to: bit.ly/UrbnStrngGrnCity The presentation will be reprised at the same time, same location on Wednesday, April 17 (tickets can also be purchased for this venue.)  It is being held at AgTech X Co-Lab @ Agritecture, 40 Bushwick Ave.

Urbanstrong is a full-service green building technology firm that designs, builds, and maintains a range of green infrastructure solutions. The team has installed hundreds of thousands of square feet of green building projects throughout the greater northeast over the past 10+ years.
