Tzetzo Cos. to redevelop 12,000 s/f Kronenberg Building; Silvestri is architect; Mancini named project manager
The Kronenberg Building, at the corner of Main and Buffalo Sts., has a brand new owner who plans to breathe life into the iconic but ailing structure. The purchaser, Buffalo-based Tzetzo Companies, plans to redevelop the 12,000 s/f circa 1884 building into a mix of retail and office use.
"My father Jim, our project manager Jon Mancini, and I are so pleased to make a contribution to the continued resurgence of Hamburg's charming village," said Nicholas Tzetzo. "Main Street - with its new roundabouts and historic buildings - has been improved to a high level. We plan to bring back the Kronenberg Building to that same degree of quality, a cornerstone that the Village and town can be proud of."
Hamburg Village Mayor Thomas Moses expressed gratitude and relief about the new owners' plans. "The village board of trustees, the town building inspector, and really the entire community - we have all been so deeply concerned for so long about the deterioration of this building. We even considered the unthinkable - demolition. Then along came Jim, Nick and Jon to save this building and once again make it a productive property for our village. Calling them angels is not an overstatement!"
The Tzetzos have hired architect Philip Silvestri for project design work and Bero as historic preservation consultant. Project manager Mancini, will oversee the work and is looking forward to a project in his hometown. Work is expected to begin immediately, with occupancy planned for late this year.
Tzetzo Companies founder Jim Tzetzo, said, "The Kronenberg Building's renaissance is exactly the type of project we like to be involved with. It's not just about bricks and mortar, but also about adding value to the community."
Paula Blanchard of Realty USA's Commercial Division in Buffalo brokered the purchase transaction and serves as leasing representative. Discussions are underway with several prospective commercial tenants.
