Two Trees Management leases showroom to luxury design company Henrybuilt

October 29, 2024 - Design / Build

Brooklyn, NY Two Trees Management Co. has arranged for Henrybuilt, the renowned luxury design company specializing in bespoke kitchens and custom home solutions, to sign a new lease for the entire historic Stable Building, a standalone heritage frontage located at 16 Main St. in the Dumbo neighborhood. The building offers an ideal setting for Henrybuilt to showcase their integrated design approach as the neighborhood has become a magnet for high-end design firms, including Bjarke Ingels Group (B.I.G.), Garrison Architects, Brooklyn Studio and Worrell Yeung. With over 150 architecture and creative design firms calling Dumbo home, Henrybuilt’s new showroom will join a roster of design-focused retailers and studios including Ornare, Reform Kitchen and Circa Lighting.

Henrybuilt and their sister company Space Theory will relocate from their respective long-standing Soho locations. This will be the first time in New York that the sister companies will share a retail space, allowing visitors to engage with and compare both systems. Henrybuilt, founded in Seattle in 2001, pioneered the first luxury-level American kitchen system and has expanded to cover nearly every space in the home, including wardrobes, baths, and offices. Known for its system-based approach, Henrybuilt integrates all kitchen components — cabinets, counters, lighting — into a cohesive design, distinguishing it from the traditional American “parts” method.

In 2019, Henrybuilt launched Space Theory to meet the growing demand for kitchens and offer a more accessible version of this system. Space Theory uses proprietary design software to streamline and simplify kitchen design, making it more standardized and at a lower price point compared to Henrybuilt’s fully customizable, handcrafted options.

“We’ve called SoHo home for nearly 20 years and plan to keep a presence in Manhattan in the long term, but Dumbo’s creative energy — and the Stable Building in particular — provide us with a unique opportunity to headquarter both Henrybuilt and our young sister company, Space Theory, on two floors of a single amazing building,” said Scott Hudson, CEO of Henrybuilt. “Dumbo is one of the most dynamic and beautiful neighborhoods in New York City, and we’re excited to be part of this vibrant community.”

“Dumbo is already recognized as one of the city’s strongest design destinations – with world famous architects, interior designers, and home design and furniture stores,” said Bonnie Campbell, principal of Two Trees Management. “Henrybuilt now joins our highly acclaimed Dumbo design community and we know they are going to be so successful here. We’re thrilled and couldn’t have asked for a better fit for this iconic heritage building on the Dumbo waterfront.”

The two-story Stable Building, originally constructed in 1906 and renovated by Two Trees in 2015, blends historic industrial architecture with contemporary design. Spanning 7,898 s/f across both spaces, Space Theory is expected to open in late Q1 of 2025 on the ground floor of The Stable Building, and Henrybuilt is expected to open in Q2 of 2025, taking the top floor.
