This year’s annual conference, held at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel, June 13-15, was a great success! Sponsored by NYSCAR, NYS CCIM and the Society of Exchange Counselors, there were great networking opportunities for all attendees. Whether you participated in the marketing investment session or took a commercial education class, there was something for everyone. We were pleased to have representation from eight states.

It takes the effort of many people to have a successful event. Many thanks to the members of this year’s planning committee: Guy Blake, CCIM, chair; Mercedes Brien; Dana Crocker; Nick DeMarte; Gordon Furlani; Ed Gallacher, CCIM; Bob Giniecki, CCIM; Jim Kelly, CCIM; Michael Johnson; John Lavelle; Joseph Rowley, Jr.; James Walker, CCIM; and Maureen Wilson, CCIM, SIOR.

Attendees were encouraged to bring non- perishable food donations to benefit the Central New York Veterans’ Outreach Center. In addition to the food and some monetary donations, NYSCAR was proud to make a $500 contribution to the organization.

We greatly appreciate our instructors and speakers for giving of their time and expertise. Special thanks go out to: Dennis Porter, James Walker, CCIM; Patrick Reilly; Todd Kuhlmann, CCIM; Michael Kelly; Duke Long, CCIM; Paul Martin Winter, SEC president; and Shara Varner. Roundtable speakers: Doug Porter, Steven Marshall, Angela Butler and Randy Stewart. Our annual marketing investment session, which everyone looks forward to, could not run without very skilled moderators. Jim Wilson, CCIM (Florida) and Chuck Sutherland, SEC (Texas) did an outstanding job of moderating the session and we thank them for their continued support!

Hats off to our sponsors! We had a wonderful array of sponsors this year. On behalf of the Board of Governors, the Conference Planning Committee and the members, I want to thank the following organizations for their support:

Congratulations go out to NYSCAR past president, Michael Johnson for earning Realtor emeritus status from the National Association of Realtors. This honor was earned for being a member of the National Association of Realtors for 40 years which included service at the national level.

Many thanks to NYSCAR governor, Karen Klecar of Bridgeway Commercial Realty for organizing an education offering in the Endicott area! The three-hour course, which was held at the Huron Campus, was a great success with Tim Conley, CCIM, SIOR instructing, “Turning Real Estate Knowledge into Income.”

Plans are being made for another offering this fall. Watch www.nyscar.org for details.

Bob Giniecki, CCIM and James Walker, CCIM will instruct a formulas course on October 4, in Syracuse.
