Suffolk welcomes ACE Mentor
Program to meet robot dog Spot

Manhattan, NY Suffolk, a construction management company, welcomed students from the ACE Mentor Program, a free after-school program that connects high school students with experts from the design and construction industry, to their New York office to meet the robot dog Spot, the newest member of the company’s team.

Designed by Boston Dynamics, Spot is a data collection tool that focuses on safety, efficiency, scheduling, and accuracy on job sites. Spot allows for workers to be more efficient with their time, cutting down on menial and tedious tasks that once had to be done by human hand. These types of technological tools are the future of construction and Suffolk is working to continue to be industry leaders in this area on their job sites to reduce time and energy, allowing for projects to get off the ground faster and more efficiently.

Locally, Spot has assisted Suffolk on the Brook skyscraper project in downtown Brooklyn, among other projects. Adam Fyrer, construction technology deployment associate at Suffolk, helped the students get familiar with the robot.
