Spectorgroup partners with Dorsey & Whitney on 41,248 s/f new workplace

1301 Avenue of the Americas - Manhattan, NY

Manhattan, NY Multidisciplinary design practice Spectorgroup has been selected to design the new office of global law firm Dorsey & Whitney. The 41,248 s/f workplace is located at 1301 Ave. of the Americas, a forty-five-story office tower owned by Paramount Group. The project consolidates the firm’s New York presence in a space that emphasizes connectivity, flexibility, and hospitality-driven amenities.

Spectorgroup worked with Dorsey & Whitney on a workplace strategy that informs the design to create a more integrated and efficient workplace. The move will unite the firm’s team from three separate floors into one cohesive office that supports internal training, flexible work patterns, and client-facing events.

The design creates a bright, modern work environment through a curated material palette, custom finishes, and artwork that reflect the firm’s national identity while capturing the distinct character of New York City. The hospitality-inspired reception, expanded work cafe, and versatile conference areas offer multiple points for interaction, supporting both day-to-day activities and larger office gatherings. The unified floor plan will further strengthen connectivity while accommodating a range of work styles.

“This project provided an opportunity to align the New York office with the firm’s broader national identity while reflecting the character of the city,” said Scott Spector, principal at Spectorgroup. “The design will reflect Dorsey & Whitney’s workflow and culture, with an office that is connected, purposeful, and tailored to both team and client-facing activities.”

Building on best practices from Dorsey & Whitney’s offices nationwide, the new workplace reflects the firm’s culture of mentorship and innovation. “This updated office will support the way we share knowledge and work together,” said Dan Goldberger, head of Dorsey’s New York Office. “The design will encourage engagement, focus, and innovation throughout the office, and we’re looking forward to bringing people together to improve client service.”

The office will also offer access to The Paramount Club, providing amenities such as dining and lounge spaces, rentable conference rooms, wellness facilities, and entertainment options, all designed to complement the firm’s workplace experience.

Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
