SolarKal: NJ to close SREC program April 30th

New York, NY According to SolarKal, the NJ Board of Public Utilities will close the state’s SREC Registration Program effective April 30th. The SREC program is scheduled to close once 5.1% of electricity sold in NJ is generated from solar power. Any solar project that has not been completely installed by the end of April will receive access to a transition incentive program.

The new “TREC” program creates a unique opportunity for qualified businesses and real estate owners to get nearly free electricity.

Due to the recent drop in equipment costs paired with high state and federal subsidies, there is a timely window of opportunity for solar companies to fully finance energy projects from solar subsidies and offer electricity at rates close to zero.

The TREC program serves as a transition to a new program and will close in a few months, once the next program is finalized.

SolarKal is working with its clients to take advantage of this timely opportunity and lock in their spot in the new program before it closes.
