Sky Lake hires Dye as chairman and Lee as managing director and head of business development

Manhattan, NY According to Sky Lake Partners,  Donald Dye has joined the firm as chairman and Michael Lee has joined as a managing director and head of business development.

 Dye, who was most recently head of institutional equity derivative solutions at Royal Bank of Canada, will manage the group’s capital raising efforts with family offices and institutions. Dye was also a co-founder of the firm. 

“Donald brings many years of Wall Street experience and a broad network of international investors to Sky Lake. We are delighted to have him on board,” said Marlena Demenus, CEO of Sky Lake. 

Dye was head of institutional equity derivative solutions at Royal Bank of Canada before joining Sky Lake. He previously held executive leadership positions in internationally recognized financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Swiss Bank Corporation Zurich and Citicorp London. He began his career as a staff assistant in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. He also worked for Ciba-Geigy, the precursor of Novartis, in Beijing. 

Lee will spearhead the firm’s capital raising and investor relations efforts. In addition, Lee will be a registered representative with WealthForge Securities, LLC1 (WealthForge), a top Virginia-based broker-dealer with a leading financial technology platform that Sky Lake plans to use for private placement offerings. 

“Michael’s nearly two decades of experience in financial services at leading Wall Street institutions will be instrumental for the next level of growth at Sky Lake. We’re thrilled to have Michael join the firm,” said Demenus.

Prior to joining Sky Lake, Lee held a variety of sales positions at Morgan Stanley, on both the institutional foreign exchange platform and the private wealth platform. Originally from the United Kingdom, he graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc degree in math and economics.
