The panel discussion, which will run from 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m., will address key issues facing any project contemplating cogeneration technologies. Panelists will describe the basic concepts, benefits and disadvantages of different technologies available on the market. Topics will include the relative difficulty of construction, ongoing maintenance and major maintenance intervals, as well as the relative space requirements for each technology.
Participants will increase their understanding of cogeneration by learning how to estimate energy savings, economic and environmental benefits, as well as ways to finance a CHP project, including potential state and local subsidies.
The benefits of increased efficiency, significant energy cost savings, increased reliability and lower emissions per unit of power produced will also be discussed. Finally, correctly matching the technology to the facility is critical to the economic success of cogeneration and this forum will address the "sweet spot" for each as well as identify situations where cogeneration should not be attempted.
